30th June – strike together to defend jobs, pay and conditions.

On 30th June, four unions – the Universities and Colleges Union, Public and Commercial Services union, Association of Teachers and Lecturers and National Union of Teachers, are set to take co-ordinated national strike action.

The ballots are now in, and the strike day is confirmed. The vote was 92% for action in the NUT, and 83% in the ATL. The UCU and the PCS have also voted for action. Another teaching union, the National Association of Head Teachers, is balloting for strike action, but will not be able to take action on the same day. However, other unions may be joining the strike on the day with local action, particularly Unite members in Crewe, who are balloting for action in defence of a union rep. who is being victimised.

In Leeds, we are calling on everybody to support their local picket lines, at workplaces from 6:30am onwards. If you are able, then please join the rally called by Leeds Against the Cuts:

Leeds Keep Our NHS Public campaign has called a demonstration on Saturday 28th, in order to highing the peril facing our NHS. We will meet at St. James’ Hospital at 11am, and march from there to the Leeds General Infirmary.

All are welcome. Please bring banners, placards, friends, family and colleagues.
